Vision Challenge Fun Run/Walk
The Vision Challenge Fun Run/Walk provides an exciting twist to the standard fun run and a new test
for competitors seeking a challenge.
Following on from the success of last year’s event, we are sending out an invite to join us on Sunday
the 30th of August 2015 to support a good cause. Participants can either take the easy way out and
participate on their own or undertake a unique challenge and enter as a team of two, with each
member taking it in turn to run or walk whilst wearing a blindfold as their team mate leads them
through the course. With the option of 2km, 4km or the challenging 8km, participants will rely
heavily on trust, communication and team mettle.
The race will take teams through a figure-eight course designed to test competitors as they
participate on the wide road areas situated near the Victoria Park Grandstand, on the eastern fringe
of the Adelaide city.
The Vision Challenge wants to ensure that everyone has the chance to be involved, with the distance
options catering to families, couples, runners or even purely those seeking a challenge. This year we
are also encouraging schools and corporate entities to take part by meeting fundraising targets,
$250 for schools and $500 for corporate, as an incentive for receiving an entry price of only $1 per
Adding further excitement to the event will be a number of past Paralympians and Australian Blind
Sporting representatives, who will be there to meet and interact with spectators and participants.
Moreover, everyone will be given the opportunity to ride a tandem bike for a small donation or
participate in a number of additional vision impaired sports being exhibited, free of charge.
The event aims to raise awareness of the sporting capabilities of vision impaired and blind
individuals, whilst providing the opportunity for integration into a mainstream sporting opportunity.
Additionally, the money raised from the event will be utilised in providing further sporting
opportunities for people who are blind or vision impaired through Blind Sports SA.
If you would like to support this exciting event through sponsorship, promotion within your
organisation, a volunteer or just be a participant please contact Kent Dredge.
